So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
John 16:22 (NIV)
Read: John 16:17-24
In the passage, Jesus said “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me“. The first thing that came to my mind when I read this was Jesus will die and then the people will no see him no more but He will be back and live again so they will see Him again.
So yes. It’s somehow like that. But God’s wisdom is waaaaay more advanced as it somehow applies until present.
(First point.) In verse 22, it says that our time of grief is now. Now is the life we are living here on earth. But when we see Him again, there in heaven, we will rejoice and praise him. And no one, nothing can take away that joy of praising Him from us. So be patient. Look onto Him and make Him your goal. You may suffer now but at the end, we will be in eternal joy.
(Second point.) In verse 23, it says, “Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” All we got to do is ask. Our God is a Mighty God. All things are possible through Him. So, whatever that is, ask.
(Third point.) Verse 24 says, “Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” I think this is the sum of the first and second point. We’ve got to ask Him and we will receive. Ask for forgiveness and we will receive. Ask for eternal life and we will receive. And in that life with Him, our joy will be complete.
